Afrique du Sud: un jeune gay tué et mutilé, selon une organisation LGBT

 Un jeune gay a été tué et son cadavre mutilé dans le nord-ouest de l'Afrique du Sud, a affirmé jeudi une organisation de défense des homosexuels.

La police a déclaré que Thapelo Makutle avait été retrouvé égorgé samedi aux premières heures et qu'elle avait ouvert une enquête pour meurtre sans motif connu.

Mais la porte-parole de l'association a estimé qu'il s'agissait d'un crime de haine. Selon Jabu Pereira, également coordinatrice du programme Afrique de la Commission internationale des droits de l'Homme pour les gays et lesbiennes (IGLHRC), les meurtriers n'ont rien volé et le corps a été mutilé. Elle a ajouté que des voisins avaient entendu du bruit samedi matin.

C'est un ami proche du jeune homme qui l'aurait retrouvé couvert de sang, sous une couverture. Selon Mme Pereira, Thapelo Makutle était un militant des droits des LGBT (lesbiennes, gays, bisexuels et transgenres).

L'Afrique du Sud a légalisé le mariage pour les couples homosexuels et sa Constitution interdit la discrimination fondée sur l'orientation sexuelle mais les homosexuels restent confrontés à la discrimination et la violence.

On 9 June 2012, two unidentified men attacked and killed LGBTI rights defender Thapelo Makhutle. He was a member and volunteer of LEGBO.

LEGBO is an advocacy group based in Northern Cape which provides support and training to rural LGBTI communities who face stigma and harassment. (read more...)
