Cameroon Resist CAR Attack: Cameroonian Forces Gun Down 6 Gunmen

The Cameroonian armed forces have said that it has killed six gunmen from the troubled country of the Central Africa Republic who attacked a village where a military installation is found in the territory of Cameroon.

Cameroon and the Central Africa Republic shares border in the east and the army said the cross-border raid by the gunmen from the Central African Republic lasted for hours.

A Cameroonian soldier and a villager were said to have also been killed in the attack and one of the gunmen was captured by the Cameroonian forces.

It is unclear the motive of the gunmen but local reporters say the border area has been tense since rebels in the Central Africa Republic ousted President Francois Bozize in March. (read more)
